Grid peak shaving is a method of using battery energy storage systems (BESS) to supplement power when the mains supply is insufficient. A recent customer contacted Senmarck seeking a peak-shaving solution to power six piling machines and water pumps due to their limited mains capacity.

The Challenge:

·       Their mains supply could not handle the simultaneous startup of all machines but could sustain operation once the pumps were running.

·       Our BESS functioned like a transformer expansion, discharging power during peak demand to bridge the gap.

This customer also eliminates conventional diesel generators solution and saves emission.
